Description
Come and relax along the Canal Saint Martin with a walking tour that will guide you through the locks.
The Saint Martin canal is located in the 10th and 11th arrondissements. It connects the basin of La Villette in the north and the Arsenal port in the south which directly overlooks the Seine. Inaugurated in 1825, this small 4.55 km long canal was intended as a conveyance for drinking water into the city of Paris. It comprises nine locks which we will show you during this tour.
From the Villemin garden to the famous Hotel du Nord made famous by the director Marcel Carné who offered a replica to Arletti, this tour will take you along the waterway which has been a registered historic monument since 1993. A major area for Parisian street art, this excursion will also give you the opportunity to discover the incredible graffiti along the quays.
What you get from this experience:
-
- - A pleasant stroll along the waterway following the locks
- - Discover the districts of north Paris from a different angle
