Follow the guide through this place of teaching and education with a didactic and fun walk through the history of this garden.
Created in the 17th century at the instigation of doctors Jean Héroard and Guy de la Brosse, the Jardin des Plantes, the historical heart of the National Museum of Natural History, initially housed species with therapeutic virtues. In the 18th century, under the guidance of Buffon, it became a center for teaching natural sciences and enriching the collections of the King's Cabinet.
The goal of this bucolic visit is to uncover the secrets of the Jardin des Plantes. Your guide will take you to discover the "Carrés de la Perspective," an area designed according to French garden principles, featuring nearly 700 different plants. You will then pass by the Grand Gallery of Evolution and the School of Botany, which combines the discovery of temperate region vegetation with educational insights. Next, follow the guide along the rose garden. Inspired by romanticism, this garden offers a walk among 300 varieties of simple and sophisticated flowers. You will then continue to the heights of the garden to observe historical and remarkable trees, such as the Cedar of Lebanon planted in 1734 by botanist Bernard de Jussieu, and statues of the garden's great figures like the botanist Buffon.
