Points forts
Let us guide you through these secret passages and shopping arcades on a wonderful walk.
The covered passages are a set of arcades constructed between buildings to improve traffic flow and to also create shopping galleries. Located on the Rive Droite and near the main boulevards, these structures were created for wealthy clients. The passages had their heyday in the first half of the 19th century as those in Paris numbered more than 130 at the time. They were abandoned following the construction of Hausmann's great works and the emergence of department stores.
This route offers to bring you up to date about why these passages and other galleries were so appealing on a stroll around the 2nd and 10th district. Among the twenty or so passages that are open and accessible, your Urbanaute guide will take you through around a selection of them.
What you get from this experience:
- - An original stroll that will take you through several neighborhoods via its "secret" passages
- - A selection of the most beautiful covered galleries still in operation
- - A discovery of artisanal trades
